    Do you have a micro-hydro system running?

    Actually the opposite, the water is pumped from the creek around the community with an electric pump connected to the grid. The powerline is quite close and makes it the most appropriate thing to use – considering the resources of the community.

    The creek is particularly meandering along the boundary of Avalon, although i’ve heard of a waterfall, i’ve never seen it – so it is probably too remote to run power from.

    So while the flow is perennial it lacks the head pressure to be really effective for micro hydro.

    Those people on the community who are along the main road have mains electricity – for the rest of us a bit deeper into the forest it is a mix of Solar Photovoltaics and petrol generators.

    I’ve got a page on the solar power system we have;
