Home / Observations / It has been raining for two days straight.
We have measured 60mm of rainfall. The falls have been very consistent so no flooding, just a thorough soaking of the earth.
Now that our roof is fully guttered, we have a quality catchment of 131m2. This runs into a 23,000Lt concrete tank. The day before yesterday this tank’s water level was a meter from the bottom, today it is a meter from the top. We have caught and stored about 8000Lt of water over two nights.
Now we hope the sun comes out before it begins to overflow so that we can pump that water to our 22,000Lt storage and header tank at the top of the hill. Ready for the next downpour.
What a difference a day makes. Especially a very wet one after a drought.

The rains are coming! We have installed the new gutter on the steep sloping roof. Now, we have our whole roof guttered and it is catching rain! Slowly at the moment, but the hint of fresh rain will start the cycle…
Our greens are doing really well and we ate some rainbow chard and parsley in our quiche last night!
We are doing rain dances to bring on more rain…
Study is going well for both of us and we are embracing this semester. I am studying homoeopathy, mind-body medicine and biochemistry and Guy is completing his certificate IV in permaculture… at the moment he is practicing and learning about orthographic drawing.
Exciting stuff!
Happy Birthday to My Mum and Nana, Its that Leo time of year!
Love to all who read this…

Dear Guy and Kirrah,
It must have been quite a tough job putting the new guttering up on your high steep roof, but it is wonderful to have all that new roof area to catch the rain. It is supposed to be a wet week here with more snowfalls, so hopefully it is a great big cloud with rain falling right across the east coast. I’m so glad all your studies are going well, have you had the Biochem exam yet Kirrah?
I went to a lovely concert last night with my Aunty Gwen, Beethoven’s Symphony No.3, I will have to buy the CD, the music was really beautiful. It was the first symphony that Beethoven wrote after becoming deaf, so it is full of emotion and amazing that he could compose such music without ever being able to hear it. Have a lovely weekend, it is a month tomorrow since we went to the farmer’s market together. We are going to drop by again to buy some more fresh produce.
Love Ann And Ed
